Comedy Church is a stand-up comedy show for people who’ve left religion and no longer fear hell…or at least people who get that joking about God is punching up.

Modeled after a church service, each show is hosted by Mega Pastor Adam Broud and tackles a different theme through a post-religious lens: Marriage, Death, Swearing, Guilt, and more! Different jokes, different hymns, different guest comics. A different way to question everything, every time.

Open Mic Night - this is where it begins.

Wiseguys Open Mic is a weekly showcase of Utahs's best up-and-coming performers. Each show is a hilarious mix of professionals working on new material, amateur comedians working on their chops, and first-timers being thrown in the mix.

Wiseguys Open Mic is held every Wednesday at Wiseguys Downtown SLC at the Gateway.

How do I sign up?

Please email wiseguysopenmic@gmail.com and request a spot on the next open mic. You may submit one email request for yourself only up to one week before the next scheduled open mic. You may not request a spot several weeks in advance of the night you'd like to perform. Anyone interested in performing on Open Mic night must send in an email request; there are no longer sign-ups the night of the show. If you are selected to do a spot, we will respond to your email. It is up to you to check your email.

If you are a comic visiting from out of town, please email us and we will try to make room for you. All performers must be aged 21 or older.

How will I know if I'm on the show?

We will respond via email to everyone who will be on the open mic no later than 6pm the Tuesday before open mic. If you are selected, feel free to invite friends and family to come watch and support your performance. Admission is $5 for audience members and free for performers. It is your responsibility to check your email to see if you've been selected.

What if I'm not chosen to be on the show?

We do our best to give everyone an opportunity to perform but we can't always squeeze everyone on to the show because of high demand. If you are not selected to perform, keep sending in email requests. Be persistent and patient (and nice) and we will make sure you have an opportunity to take the stage. If you’re not selected, please come to the show and support anyway. Your support of the other open mic performers is noticed and appreciated and won’t hurt your chances to be selected for a future open mic.

Stand-by List: If any spots become available at 6pm on Open Mic night, then a stand-by list will be made available for performers who aren't already scheduled for that evening. There are no guarantees that a stand-by list will be available each week and will be determined at 6pm if there is any available room to add performers on to the show.

*A certain number of open mic slots are made available to touring professional comedians. If you are wondering whether or not you’re a touring professional, you’re probably not a touring professional. (Keep working hard and you’ll get there though)

I'm on the list, now what?

You must check in at the front desk no later than 6pm otherwise your spot will be forfeited and given to someone waiting on the standby list. No-shows are less likely to be given future performance opportunities at open mic night.

All scheduled performers get 3 minutes on stage. Please stick to your time. Show order is random and determined by that evening's emcee. Be sure to watch the countdown clock! Respect the time, audience, and other comedians.

Please stay out of the staff's way as they are very busy. Stay clear of the aisles. Also, you should order from a server and tip them. It's the right thing to do and good karma.

Open Mic is used as a starting ground for many comics, as well as a place to practice new material for veteran comedians. Some jokes may kill, others may bomb, but it's always a good time. Be sure to support those appearing on stage; it's not as easy as you think! Sit down and watch the show from an empty seat in the showroom. You never know...you might learn something!

ERIC ANDRE is a comedian, actor and creator and host of Adult Swim’s hit series “The Eric Andre Show,” for which he won an Emmy Award. He stars in the upcoming Netflix feature LITTLE BROTHER, directed by Matt Spicer, and recently appeared in HAPPY GILMORE 2 and Peter Farrelly’s BALLS UP. In 2023, he was featured as an expert panelist on ABC’s “The Prank Panel,” alongside Johnny Knoxville and Gabourey Sidibe, and launched his first podcast “Bombing with Eric Andre” as part of the iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network. On the podcast, Andre asks his guest, usually a comedian or other type of performer, what their worst experience in front of an audience was, the worst bombing they’ve ever seen, and the most wasted they’ve ever been on stage. In 2022, Andre delivered a hilarious performance not to be missed in season two of HBO’s “The Righteous Gemstones” as ‘Lyle Lissons,’ a megachurch pastor from Texas who befriends Danny McBride’s ‘Jesse Gemstone.’ That same year, he also starred in an episode of the Netflix anthology series “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.” In 2020, his first standup special “Legalize Everything” received critical praise when it premiered on Netflix and in 2021, he starred in the Netflix comedy BAD TRIP, which he produced and co-wrote with his director (Kitao Sakurai) from “The Eric Andre Show.” Co-starring Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish, the film was the #1 most viewed feature world-wide on the platform the first week of its release and marks a major moment in Andre’s career as it takes what he’s been doing with his comedy to the next level. According to Howard Stern, “I believe this is gonna win an Academy Award.” He added, “I was laughing so hard I thought my ribs might break.” Andre recently voiced ‘John Dory,’ the brother of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Branch’ in TROLLS BAND TOGETHER, as well as the demon ‘Luci’ on the Netflix animated series “Disenchantment” from creator Matt Groening. He also lent his voice to the animated action comedy THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES, the animated feature SING 2, and the hyena ‘Azizi’ in Disney’s reimagining of THE LION KING, from director Jon Favreau. With an already proven standup act, Andre decided to break into the world of late-night talk shows. But, of course, he brings his own flare to what is otherwise a very organized and predictable late- night routine. Unlike his counterparts, Jimmy Fallon or Conan O’Brien, Andre’s unrelenting and constantly over the top humor puts some of his guests on “The Eric Andre Show” into situations they never thought they would end up in. “The Eric Andre Show” is a live-action-comedy television series that premiered in May 2012 on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Andre was also seen on the big screen in ROUGH NIGHT, with Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon. His other film credits include POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING, with Andy Samberg, and THE INTERNSHIP, with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. Andre starred on FXX’s “Man Seeking Woman” for three seasons from 2015 to 2017, with Jay Baruchel. He was also a series regular on ABC’s “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt. 23.

This is a guy that could star in a sitcom.”

Michael’s likability allows him to relate to his audiences in a real way which sets up the huge laughs he gets from his sharp, personal material. Consistently writing and performing, Michael recently released both a new album— The Internet Live through 800 Pound Gorilla and a new stand-up special on the Dry Bar app— 1984. Available for free streaming.

Drew Hunt of The Chicago Reader wrote about Michael, “In a lot of ways, he represents the ideal antidote to the sort of unbridled cynicism that pervades much of contemporary stand-up.” Michael’s optimism continues in the new National Lampoon series — The Bright Side where he takes a positive stance on a negative topic streaming on YouTube.
